Often times, it can be very difficult for individuals just starting therapy to open up and feel comfortable; especially around someone they just met! Dr. Sami primarily focuses on building a casual and comfortable relationship with each client to facilitate trust and acceptance. Dr. Sami understands that each individual is unique and has different needs. Based on the client's unique strengths and differences, she utilizes Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and may incorporate aspects of play, art, media, games, or even behavioral interventions as indicated for each client.
Dr. Sami likes getting to her know clients and their unique interests. She may utilize movies they are interested in, games/video games, or other techniques for psychoeducational purposes.
Dr. Sami implements an integrative approach to therapy which incorporates a relational model with aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), perspective taking/social support, and play therapy as indicated for each client.
Dr. Sami uses an interpersonal approach with aspects of CBT and social skills when working with young adults on the Autism Spectrum.
Dr. Sami no longer conducts psychological and psychoeducational evaluations, but would be happy to provide you with referrals!
